Children and Youth Christian Education and Programming

One Unified Program with Four Facets                                                                                                                                   

1. Christian Education (Sunday morning)

    By the time children move through our Sunday school program (nursery through 12^th

    grade) they will receive:

• a basic working knowledge of the Bible and
• an understanding of core Presbyterian beliefs.

2. Youth Groups (Wednesday)

    Youth group opportunities for K-12^th grade that focus on:

• fellowship,
• spiritual and personal growth,
• service and hands-on mission.

     Grades 3-5 Grand Central Station

     Grades 6-12 YES! (Youth Encountering Spirit) Groups

     Vacation Bible School

            $40.00/child 

     Lock-in May 30-June 1, 2008

     Youth Service to church and community

3. Mission Trips, Music Trip and Outward Bound Type Experience.

    With the expectation local mission can always be incorporated and music may be a

     part of all mission trips, a four-year cycle that includes:

• Year 1: international (intergenerational) mission trip,
• Year 2: regional or national mission trip,
• Year 3: dedicated choir trip
• Year 4: an Outward Bound type experience

    so that youth moving through Central will have the opportunity to participate in all

    four by graduation.

4. Music and Choirs

    Expectation for the experience of the choirs and music personnel:

• lead people to worship God and promote spiritual growth
• help members love God and each other
• sense of joy in participation
• encourage people to share their gifts and talents
• wide participation by members with excellence as close second
• promote breadth of styles
• plan for interaction between choirs
• call for a variety of instruments
• support children through adults
